Day 21 (3/12)
Day 21 (3/12)
Scripture Reading: John 4:39-42
Written by John Anderson
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
In this familiar story of the Woman of Samaria, do we fix on that person and perhaps do a little looking down at her? Wrong religion, not a true Jewish believer, bad lifestyle with five husbands and now this one too. She is quite a contrast from the many people I know, members at ECC…and especially me who, by contrast, seem rather righteous. She needed that “living water” that Jesus gave and left her water pot rejoicing to tell everyone in that town. I, while not having had five spouses, nor living in some conspicuous kind of sin, also need that “living water,” just as much as she did. That living water comes to me from my abiding in Him, slaking my thirst, bringing joy and strength for the day.
Where do you need Jesus’ strength today?
